Recent years, he expanded his interest in investment management field specializing derivative trading strategies. Born in 1963, Shuya, having gained his BA degree of Business from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.

After focusing on accounting and econometrics in his college days, he went on to joining Credit Suisse First Boston, one of the top American investment banks in late 80s in Tokyo, where he had traded, managed risks and applied statistical models to pricing various financial assets, mainly US government bond and European government bond options as well as option-embedded structured notes prior to joining Mizuho Bank to establish their fixed income arbitrage book at the bank’s proprietary trading division, where he traded all Japanese yen denominated interest rate products. Strategy includes JGB yield curve arbitrage, directional option selling and asset swaps including sinking-fund callable municipal bonds. Afterwards, he developed his career at National Australian Bank when he started Japanese Yen swap option book where he was responsible for product development and proprietary trading.

At the turn of the century, he believed that alternative investment market will become major source of financial intermediary in the near future. He went on to partner with former Tiger Management strategist and had founded US based Crane Capital Management, a global macro fund with big name investors, where he traded 24 hours from his office near San Francisco and run US office as a managing member and president of US operation. He was responsible for execution, risk management, administration and proprietary trading. He left former partner in 2002, to create commodity trading firm, when long waited end of deflation cycle of the global economy seemed imminent to him. Shuya, even now, believes that inflation trend had just started and there is still long way to go. A Delaware registered fund, Nippon Commodity Fund L.P. had been timely introduced to catch first run of inflation of the global economy and its market volatility. Here, he continues applying statistical approach for trading and arbitrage but does not forget importance of risk management from his training of early days and common sense of investment, discipline. He now assumes president position of the firm and runs office near San Francisco.
